Yeah, I'm sure anything beats applications that are filed in individual page protectors for them.

Got the first email from the CO, wasn't really expecting anything until later this week! The initials are RR, haven't heard much regarding this one... |

Meg, would strongly recommend going and reading my time line and JabbzysGirl's time line. They are both very recent applications and grants with the same case officer, R.R. Looks like you got a little unlucky as JabbzysGirl just pointed out she is going on a 3 week vacation. Bummer. |

Nothing I can do about it except wait. My medicals are scheduled for 2.5 weeks from now and I'm assuming it'll take at least a week for the medicals to get to the office so (in my opinion) RR's vacation works out quite well with my medicals. Orginally I was a little bummed that I couldn't get in to see a doctor for two weeks (seems that no doctor likes to work the weeks surrounding the 4th), but now that RR is on vacay, can't be toooo bummed. Even C.O.s need vacations. Edited by meg1388, Jul 1 2009, 01:51:02 AM.

No updates yet. I do have a question though, does Form 80 (character check) need to be completed? I did not complete that form and I don't remember the application requring completion of Form 80, but it sounds like a lot of people went ahead and submitted it anyways. Should I send that in or just wait until the CO requests it? This waiting around is killing me--and it's only been 2 weeks! I have a long couple of weeks/months ahead of me! |

You may have to fill it in. I did but only after requested. I would start filling it in just in case they want it. I still don't know what they needed all that information for. Anyways, I hope you hear some great news soon. |

Form 80 does need to be filled in. You can find the checklist for all the documents that you need to supply with an application for a Subclass 300 visa here. There used to be another form that you had to fill out for the AFP check but that's now gone as you just apply using the AFP's standard form for doing it. |

Just had my medical yesterday, glad to have that finished! I had a wonderful doctor—thanks to M&L for the great recommendation! The doctor was extremely well organized, made sure that every question was filled in correctly, double checked where the results were to be sent for my type of visa, and made sure that everything was in place to have a successful application and tried to prevent/correct any reason for the embassy to reject the medical results. The doctor didn’t like how my chest X-ray turned out, and knowing how fickle the Australian embassy can be with the chest x-rays, I was asked to redo the x-ray. The doctor also didn’t know if I should be tested for Hepatitis B and C because although I work in healthcare, pharmacists don’t have regular contact with infectious diseases like a physician, dentist, and nurse would. But the doctor requested that I go ahead and be tested for that (62 dollars extra) to avoid any reason to have my application refused. The cost was 329, but since I had Hepatitis B and C included, that increased the price to 391. If anyone has any questions or would like to know which doctor I saw, please send me a PM and I would be happy to give you details! Edited by meg1388, Jul 19 2009, 04:56:36 AM.

It's now week 5 since the confirmation email from my CO. And the wait is killing me. The email that I got from the C.O said that the initial assessment will take 8-10wk. Not the usual 8wk that everyone else seemed to have stated in their emails. 5 more weeks to even have an assessment, geez I didn't think it would be this hard to just wait around... after being together for 5 years, not seeing each other for 6mo at a time (and 1yr on 2 different occasions), we just want this waiting to be over. So close to the finish... It hasn't even been 2mo since we last saw each other, and we are missing each other more than we ever have in the past (even more than the times that we haven't seen each other for nearly 1yr). but I know I have to wait like everyone else, I just didn't expect it to be this hard.

meg glad to hear you had a really good panel dr, that's fantastic you sound like you have everything well organised, so hopefully it will be quick. are you planning to move over immediately after you get the approval? the wait is super hard.. but i remember after we got our decision i felt i had so much to do i wasn't ready :P so sometimes that can happen. maybe write a list of all the stuff you need to do before you leave an tackle one or two things every week. and just try to stay busy like i mentioned before and enjoy your time with family and friends. enjoy the WI summer and all the food goodies! best of luck to you guys

it will be ok!!! You are 1/2 way there, hang in there!!! 8 weeks is nothing compared to what we're getting!!! we can do this!!! and maybe you're email said that because your CO went on vacation so she added a few weeks in there??? not sure, just guessing here.I never sent that form 80 off either in my package. John and I were reading somewhere not to send it unless they request it. I wasnt sure about it either so I didn't do it. Figured I'm not giving it if they don't ask ( that form had me so freaking confused lol I was happy to skip it) If they want it later down the road, I will beg for help to fill it out. |

Yup, but my email stated that the inital assessment would take 8-10 weeks. So I am not holding my breath for any update from the CO this week or next week. But I'll still be checking my email constantly! Edited by meg1388, Aug 25 2009, 05:41:18 AM.

My CO (RR) left a voice message on my cell phone at 9am today but unfortunately I was working a 10hr shift (with no lunch). Didn't get the message til 5:30pm . The message was really quick and really hard to understand--didn't even catch her call back number... So I was super worried. Got home to check the email and there was my grant notification sitting in my email inbox! I didn't even open it up before I started calling my friends/family! Such a relief - Now I might be able to sleep at night! I can't stop smiling :D BTW, no Form 80 was requested... But I have it ready to submit for the next part of the visa In fact, I'm surprised additional information was not requested at all. I was almost positive that an AoS would be requested given that Dave and I are (relatively) young and didn't work much through grad school (ie little in our bank accounts, and little on his tax return from 2 years ago). They must look at something else when determining the need for an AoS. But I'm happy that we didn't need one! In other news, I took (and somehow passed ) my pharmacy boards and now I am a licensed pharmacist! And my boss was nice enough to let me return to the hospital (where I worked as an intern for the past 3 years) as a staff pharmacist even knowing that I will be leaving relatively soon - I am grateful to have such a great boss! AND I'm loving my new position at the hospital - will probably be hard to leave, but I can't worry about that yet! Well, I'm out for the night--time to celebrate! Meg on getting your visa granted and on becoming a licenced pharmacist. Are you able to transfer this to Australia and work as a licenced pharmacist there? |
