I hope so, Tors! We're goin to Medicare on Friday when we do the errand day. But Immi won't change the name on the visa till I change my passport, so we have to pay out for that *grumps*

Meg, no, didn't think to get anything from the specialists, but I can if need be. At least one of them (my endocrinologist) is comfortable with email, so that helps! :) My father has my power of attorney so he should easily be able to get letters from any others in Maryland.

FBI report *is* here. Naturally they've never heard of me ;)

And I got a call from the doctor's office. They need to fax me a form which we all forgot to have me sign *sighs* Once I sign and fax it back, they'll send out the medicals.

Then I'll just send both those out at once.. yay!

Your Australian marriage licence should be proof enough for a name change on things like bank accounts, Medicare cards, driver's licence, etc. (A foreign marriage licence is a different story) That's all I used. I didn't get my passport changed for nearly 18 months!
What Tori says is right. In the last few weeks, I've changed all my bank/credit card accounts, my driver's licence, my Medicare account, my private health insurance account, AND my ATO tax file number to my married name, and my US passport is still in my maiden name. (I don't plan to futz with changing my passport for a while.) You'll just have to get a lot of copies of your marriage certificate to pull it all off. No biggie, just a lot of paperwork and running around. :)

So Pamm, you just have to send in the mdicals and FBI check and that will be enough to get your app finally rolling the rest of the way, right? How did your appointment at immi go?

Yep, Melissa! We're just crossing our fingers now, and waiting. Jason says he thinks there'll be no problem. I hope there won't be, but I'm a natural-born worrier!

The meds should be here next week, and we already bought the registered mail envelope to mail 'em in :)

Oh, those Australians never seem to worry! :rollin: I'm the one worrying about everything in my visa application, thinking "did i forget to send this or that in?", what if... what if... what if... And my fiance has no worries whatsoever! His biggest concern is to have me in Oz by the holiday season... Wish i could be that laid back!

Got my FBI non-report, but we're still waiting on medicals *grumps* Jason thinks we should go ahead and send in the FBI one, with a note saying we're still waiting on the medicals. I have 28 days to get it all in though! How long before that deadline should I call my CO and ask what to do? I think he did say they can extend it..

I would go ahead and send it and then email them to confirm they have it in a few days and then slip in you're still waiting on stuff and inquire about a possible extension???

I spoke with my new CO ..gah! Now it's IM, who said he's fine with it, just to send the FBI report on along, which we did today. Apparently the bridging visa is good till they make a decision. Apparently HSA will expidite it if the CO asks. He didn't, so maybe they noted I need it *crosses her fingers*

Now, do I open the outer envelope or just mail the whole thing unopened?

You can open the outer envelope. The inner envelope very clearly has DO NOT OPEN written on it with stamps and the lot. That's the one you don't open. :)

Oh, and if you want more proof of address, you can use the outer envelope to show that you received your medical results at the address you're trying to show is the one you live at. Pretty decent evidence. ;)

Oh yeah, didn't think of the proof of residence :) I ended up mailing the whole thing, I am *so* nervous about this! Jason is positive we'll get it with no problem, but I'm a natural-born worrier *sigh*

Geez, only two weeks since I mailed the health thing. I wonder how long I should wait till I email or call and ask how I'm going :)

Did they give you any sort of time frame when they asked for it? If not, I'd give them 3-4 weeks before calling about it. If so, wait until it's expired and then contact them. :)

That's my advice anyway.

The initial guy we talked to said up to 6 months. When I called to tell them the health report was going to be late, I'd been assigned to another CO, the first one left or something. I know it can take a while, I'm just whinging :)

It's just I feel so unsettled still, I guess being on a bridging visa does that. You're sort of here, but not all the way till the real visa is approved :(

Almost 3 months, and I keep having to stop myself from calling and possibly irritating my CO *sighs* No matter how happy I am, this still is in the back of my mind, the worrying that they'll find some reason to deny me, and my dream will turn into a nightmare :(

That's great, Laurie! I hope you have a wonderful time with him, maybe yours will come while he's there!

:hugs: I know, Lisa, I was just in a mood the other night.. I just still feel like I'm in limbo in some ways. In a practical way, we need that visa to have any hope of getting extra help with my prescriptions :( We're going to Centrelink to talk to them soon, but I suspect that will be the answer. It's just so damn frustrating!

I know what you mean Pamm. It's amazing how much you feel in limbo and waiting, even though you're already here. And you're pretty sure it'll get granted, but that "pretty sure" doesn't get you the bloody visa!

Hang in there. Once you get it, you'll look back on all of this and be surprised at how long it felt. :hugs:
