One soda I've not been able to find here is Sierra Mist. There's nothing that has a "close-to" flavo(u)r here either - it's not a lemon or lime taste even though it's labelled as such. The A&W Root beer at most supermarkets seems to be the product made in Asia rather than the US version, and doesn't taste the same to me. Neither are close to the Australian sarsaparilla's, and none of those are anyway near as strong as the Bundaberg product (which I've only seen in a small bottle at IGA's, and a larger bottle at Campbell's stores here in Vic). Dean. |

I had a root beer and cherry coke. One was made in the UK and the other was a US import. Can't remember which was which, but the root beer tasted authentic to me. |

Coke is my favourite but it tastes different in OZ, so when I'm there Solo is my favourite...either that or the AC lemon from KMart. |

Maybe my taste buds aren't that advanced, but both the Coke and the A&W root beer here taste the same to me! |

This was my first "culture shock" since we moved here- It's hard to find fountain drinks anywhere (other than McDonalds and Hungry Jacks) and the price of a cold 600 ml of Diet Coke is CRAZY- up to $4? I haven't had sticker shock in general- prices seem reasonable, but this one made me truly sad. Luckily my first trip to Woolies left me happy when I realized I could buy my own 1.25 L for a decent price. I thought I was going to have to kick the coke habit altogether

Go to Aldi and check out their soft drink prices. You'll be even happier. Not name brand, but I like their diet cola just fine. |

I noticed that today! Whilst in line @ target (which I still dislike, but no longer hate here) I saw that a 600ml bottle was $3.35... I was in shock! Luckily for me, I no longer drink soda after being staffed at a major soda company for 3 years and watching the copious amounts of a certain green drink people consumed. |

Hello- Advise your friend that she can get Dr. Pepper, Cherry Coke and real root beer at Chilli Mojos a Mexican groccery in Adelaide ![]() Also, do you have a blender? If you do you can make Mango or Rose Lassi easy---it's just whole yogurt liquified and then flavoured with syrup. Not sure if you're in Adelaide but Rose Syrup (strong stuff so don't use too much) can be found at the Afghan groccer and my favourite Indian groccer India Plaza. |

I don't have one, as my kitchen is quite seriously the size of a postage stamp, but thanks on all fronts! eta: wait. Adelaide has a Mexican grocery? Is there a smiley for seething jealousy? The shops near me seem to think Mexican = Old El Paso kits.

Hello again CC- Today on excursion with the students at Glenelg I stopped in 'The Lolly Shop' which sells loads of candy including American favourites. LOL @ the pop tarts that cost ten dollars a box!!! Anyway they also have all sorts of American soda sold by the can. I had AW Vanilla Rootbeer (haha root) and it honestly wasn't as good as I thought it would be---but maybe I have gotten used to soda as it tastes in Australia. Thought you would like to know ![]() PS. The owner and her son are very fond of the United States and will definately keep you for a bit of a chat if they hear your accent

Nice! Too bad I'm not in Adelaide. The little Mom & Pop shop across the street from me has quite a few American sodas - they even have canned Hawaiian Punch! |

She also told me that at least in SA, only dark sodas are allowed to be caffeinated. *shrug*
