anyone know if there is a product similar to the Pillsbury style biscuits?

I am having a hard time finding biscuit and cresent roll dough and have noticed that the premade cookie dough section is lacking or nonexistant.

I need a buttery carb fix :p

You won't find them in Australia. You'll have to make your own. =)

There's not even any frozen bread dough... how do people in this country exist without it? LOL

They make it themselves. You know water, flour, yeast. It really isn't that scary!

I make my own bread too but I do enjoy making quickie cinnamon rolls with frozen bread dough when I'm feeling lazy :) Some convenience foods are nice and one of the ones I miss is frozen bread dough plus I used to make fried 'donuts' for my kids out of the Pillsbury biscuits as well. So yum and so bad all at the same time.

Welcome to Australia! Biscuits as we know them do not exist here but scones are a close substitute. Scones with jam and cream are very good indeed. Scone mix and ready made scones are available at the supermarket if you don't feel like making them from scratch. Cornbread does not exist here either or at least I have not seen it yet. Crumpets are also very good if you haven't discovered them yourself already.

Thanks for the replies, I tried scones yesterday, not quite the same but getting close! I have only been here a few weeks and am still trying to adjust to the food, but I did find real Mission brand tortilla chips-not doritos- yesterday and almost jumped up and down in the middle of the store :rollin:

I saw the Mission tortilla chips at my Coles and got excited too! The bag is so small though compared to the ones back home, I was thinking that is a snack size what happen to party size?!?! :headscratch:

The bag looks small but I think it's because we have a distorted sense of size. I bought a couple bags of these for me and my husband. We found that between the two of us, we couldn't even finish one bag. I like that not everything here is super sized. It's teaching me better portion control so I can avoid becoming super sized. :goodonya:

I was looking on the USA Foods sight and I was very disapointed that I couldn't find Pillsbury :( I really want some sugar cookies around Halloween time! I make my own at Christmas but Halloween I always have the Pillsbury ones with the fun shapes on the inside lol

Perhaps the Aus Govt. feels they wouldn't be able to protect us against a tube of biscuits that has a tendency to explode on the kitchen bench ;)

I miss Pillsbury as well... and decent hot dogs... and I've yet to find anyone who steams hotdog buns.. besides me...

But! Necessity... The Mother of Invention... Scones & gravy go well with my recipe for Popeye's Ragin' Cajun Chicken.. And if you need a good cornbread recipe, I've got one around here... someplace.

Alex I would love you to share both recipes as new topics with their very own headings, or pm them to me if they're top secret. 8)

I'll dig them out and post em on my website.. The cornbread is easy, but the Popeye's coating is pretty complex and you have to make some of the ingredients from scratch (only because I can't find powdered spaghetti sauce or Italian salad dressing mixes in Oz... Yes... those are some of the ingredients).

There is such a thing as powdered spaghetti sauce??

Pillsbury products are as freaky as that talking pile of dough! Don't worry, you'll get used to eating food made in kitchens instead of factories.

Yep, I think it was a Durkee's product. I prefer my kitchen to factories anyway.. So, if you want to know what's in Spaghetti Sauce Mix, the recipe is attached to the Popeyes recipe on my website..

http://www.bywong.com.au

click on the Bywong menu item, then onto the 'Can You Cook' menu item. The recipes should be under 'Mains'.

I miss Skyline Chili! Totally an Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana thing. I miss it so much!

Funny, I hated it when I first moved to Kentucky and I certainly didn't think I would miss it; but it is the thing I think about the most...

My DH loved Pillsbury biscuits on our last trip to the US and wishes we could find them here. (I find the solidified flecks of lard in the dough a bit ... let's say disgusting.)

Funny that this thread is about food and there's a weight watchers banner at the bottom of the page!
